Eight Months Down
Week 32 means you are in the eighth month of pregnancy with about 8 weeks to go. Baby is getting into position, and you should be finalizing preparations. This is real now.
Baby at 32 Weeks
- About 4 pounds and 17 inches, growing fast
- Practicing breathing by inhaling amniotic fluid
- Bones are hardening (except skull, which stays soft for delivery)
- May have turned head-down in preparation for birth
How Mom Is Feeling
The third trimester is tough:
- Shortness of breath - Baby is pushing up on the diaphragm
- Frequent urination - Baby is pushing down on the bladder
- Trouble sleeping - Hard to find a comfortable position
- Braxton Hicks - More frequent practice contractions
Your To-Do List
- Car seat installed and inspected
- Hospital bags packed (including yours)
- Nursery essentially ready
- Know the signs of labor
- Pediatrician selected
- Work transition plan in place
Talk About the Plan
Make sure you are aligned on:
- When to go to the hospital (contractions 5-1-1 or 4-1-1)
- Who to call when labor starts
- Birth preferences (pain management, who is in the room)
- What if you are not immediately available when labor starts
Stay Close
From here on, try not to travel far. Baby could come early. Make sure your phone is charged and you are reachable.
